If you are familiar with HP laptops you should already know by now that the Pavilion Model is one of the company’s hot cakes. Judging from previous models, the HP pavilion has never failed to deliver in terms of performance and durability.

Starting from its fancy design, to its lightweight and portability, down to the gorgeous 15-inch FHD display, this laptop is amazing. Together with the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor- which is equivalent to an Intel Core i7, this laptop ranks among the premium class.

HP Pavilion 15 (2022) review: spruce blue color design

The HP Pavilion 15 dimensions are 14.11 x 9.53 x 0.78 inches and come in Spruce Blue color. The color is appealing to the eye and you will enjoy carrying it around, especially with its thin and lightweight nature. The laptop weighs just 3.75lbs.

As soon as you lift the lid you will see the beautiful QWERTY keyboard, well-spaced with a neatly placed number pad. However, the keyboard is not lighted which implies you have to get an external lighting system if you intend to work at night.

As usual, on the sides, there are ports for connection and charging. There is one SuperSpeed USB Type-C and two SuperSpeed USB Type-A ports. There is also AC smart pin, HDMI 1.4b, and Headphone / Mic Combo Jack.

Display

The display is made up of a 15.6-inch screen, with 1920 x 1080 pixels. The 250 nits are not the best you can get out there but considering other specs, it is still a great value for money. However, it comes with anti-glare which means you can use it outdoor without noticeable effects.

For the model we reviewed, the HP Pavilion 15 is equipped with an AMD Radeon Graphics card for optimal graphical output. There is an option for Intel graphics in other models, but with what we know about GPU, nobody does it better than AMD.

Whether you’re going to do some coding, school project, or some serious GPU-demanding tasks such as gaming, this laptop will serve you quite efficiently. You can check our post for the best laptops for graphic design here.

Performance

If you opt to buy this laptop, you will be getting AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor- this is the equivalent of an Intel core i7. This processor is capable of handling all your computing tasks including some gaming activities for your leisure. The speed of the CPU is capped at 4GHz.

Additionally, the laptop comes with 12GB of RAM and max out at 32GB. On the storage side, the entry-level is 256GB and you can top it up to 2TB. This is in fact, fair to be honest, considering what you get from other rivals at that price range.

This is no doubt an incredibly fast laptop even for the base model which comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB SSD. There’s no way you will see this laptop take hours to the booth or hang along with thee way when doing serious work.

Most laptops from late 2021 onwards come with Windows 11 Operating System, there is no exception to this. It comes with Windows 11 Home installed, giving you the true feeling of a Windows Operating System.

HP Pavilion 15 battery life and charging

The HP Pavilion 15 comes with a Lithium-Ion battery that lasts 9.5 hours on a single charge. Compared with the latest HP 17, we think this is better.

Although HP did not include the fast-charge technology in this laptop, it still manage to charge from 0% to 100% in less than 2 hours. Again, this is not a drawback as the 9.5 hours of battery life means you can use your laptop for a day job without needing a charge.

For anyone intending to use this laptop for gaming and or watching your favorite shows, you will find the battery quite amazing.

HP Pavilion 15 price and availability

At the time of writing this HP Pavilion 15 review, there are eight models of varying RAM and SSD with different market prices. Although, they all come with the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor and are available to order from HP or your favorite retailer.

The entry-level comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD for $669.99. The 16GB-RAM / 1TB-SSD comes at a mouth-watering price of $689.00. A 1TB laptop for less than $700? Wow! this is insane!

You may want to call it sanity or insanity, but yes it’s real. Even if you choose to go all out for the highest spec in the market, you will not be spending up to a thousand dollars. At $909.99 you will get up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD- which is the highest spec.

What we think about the HP Pavilion 15

There are a lot of things we like about this laptop, to be honest. HP Pavilion 15 is a game-changer for both professionals and those looking for something between work and play.

If for nothing, the price is very appealing for the specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5500U, AMD Radeon Graphics, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD, and over 9 hours of battery life for less than $700. This is one laptop we recommend for a student, professional, or businessman.
